It was great to see a good crowd of windsurfers at the annual Cabrillo Beach Enduro! This event is always very friendly for competitors and spectators a like. The course is a simple figure of eight Slalom. The fleet is divided into woman, sports, Masters and Open. Each fleet raced after the other, so you could race in masters and open, sports and woman and so on, in my case I raced in Masters and Open. Initially I was thinking of racing on 7.8 with Starboard Isonic 107. However the only spot left for the beach start was down wind so I decided to go on Formula 167 with 10.0. Despite of the size of the formula board I managed to run down the beach reasonably fast. I though the guys on slalom kit would have an advantage there as their gear was lighter however the formula board plained so fast at the start that I was the first one at the start buoy. The formula board worked well with the good size fleet as the wind dropped light at the jibe marks. I ended up winning both, the masters and open.

It was great to have quite a few racers from San Diego. Lasse Unoren, Richard Harmann, Nina Walker and Tuan plus the SDWA president in person, Robert Van was there giving support and some tips at the beach. The event is run for charity, it enjoys the support of the Council. The event was also very well advertised with banners and posters placed in strategic locations. It  was supported by the Cabrillo Yacht Club, the host for 2013 US Nationals. The club provided a superb committee boat which was towering the start line. The party was at the Yacht club after the event and what a beautiful location! Many thanks to the sponsors who gave great prises " Sailworks, Dakine, Fanatic, Captain Kirks, Maui Sails..." Many thanks also go to Cabrillo BOosters and Volunteers who made this event possible!
